Edgar Lushaju

Artists Bio

Edgar is a Tanzanian graphic artist, imagineer and illustrator with a background in architecture, living in the UK. He is a father of a curious 5-year-old who challenges him creatively and keeps him on his toes.
Edgar loves to tell stories with the art he creates and tries to invoke a response beyond the aesthetic appreciation to inspire curiosity. Most of Edgars recent work has been driven by the experiences of place making, place identity and cultural/rooted identity. creating work that visualises how he grounds himself as someone living outside their cultural and physical context, responding to how does he reconciles where he is from with where he is, as an artist, a broader creative, a father, a Christian, a husband, and a son.
Edgar enjoys the practice of bringing the imagination to life through creative storytelling.

Gregory Smith

Artists Bio

In Gregory’s own words: “I am an art director and oil painter, focussing on maritime subjects both contemporary and historical. The sea is an ever-changing subject, and being based in Southampton I’m surrounded by a diverse maritime scene encompassing the UK’s largest cruise terminal and the famous sailing waters of the Solent. My pictures have been shown in exhibitions of the Royal Society of Marine Artists and won the RSMA’s New Generation award, and I have work in the collection of Tracy Edwards MBE. Marine painting is an ancient art: the sea and those tiny vessels upon it are a powerful and ever-relevant allegory”.

Kim Thompson

Artists Bio

Kim trained as a wildlife illustrator at Dyfed School of Art, West Wales, in the 1980s and combines book illustration with painting wildlife, bird and animal subjects for galleries, exhibitions and to commission. She has illustrated a huge variety of creatures from Stag Beetles to dinosaurs. From childhood Kim was fascinated by nature and animals and drew and painted fanatically. A love of books and the artists who illustrated them had an early influence on her future painting style. Studying Natural History illustration in the heart of the Welsh countryside reinforced Kim’s love of nature and helped to shape the evolution of her work as a wildlife and animal artist.
